When my users try to access the ftp site from the IE browser using the url: ftp:\\sitename.com, the authentication fails. However, when they try to access the site using the internal ip address: ftp:\\10.10.3.7 for example, the authentication passes.

Both URL's go to the same place and you get the login screen.

What could be causing this?

Have you checked if the user encounters the same issue using another browser? Is it the same if he uses firefox or chrome?
