I am having trouble authenticating to active directory, my server is behind a firewall and i have the slap port open. I am able to ping my domain controller, but multi server cannot authenticate a user. Please let me know if i need to change any setting on the domain controller or my server. Thanks,

If you want to continue to try to authenticate using active directory, I would suggest that you download the following product update - this will allow you to specify the name of the domain controller and port directly.
